If you are a poker enthusiast that loves the game as much as the glitz surrounding the famous stars in big-time poker, reading about the personable Layne Flack is sure to give you something to think about and lots to use as conversation starters at the next friendly poker game in your community center/club meeting!

Here’s why:

Layne Flack is one of the most entertaining poker star players that the professional poker gaming community has brought to light and this party animal sure knows how to liven up any poker party with his unique brand of humor and unstoppable energy at tournament games.

Those watching Layne Flack in action at the WSOP (World Series of Poker) events in the past decade will remember that if he needs to get something done at the tournament tables, he will focus whole-heartedly on achieving that aim till the time he has the coveted bracelet on his wrist – as was the case with 5 WSOP events where he walked away with the top prize!!

He is known to be unstoppable when it comes to playing a tough and tight poker game – and that coming from a South Dakota kid born in May 1969, who spent a childhood roaming the mountain town of Montana nearby with dreams in his eyes of nothing close to poker for a living is really something!

Actually, Layne the party animal, was a very good boy, attending school regularly in his hometown and then going to PokerStars.it college in his home state, which is where he was introduced to the nuances of a poker game till he got interested enough to become a dealer – a job he worked at during his summer break in college.

It was only in 1993 when he moved with his girlfriend to Reno that Layne started playing poker for a living and began with big numbers of ten thousand dollars as his monthly earnings; this figure helped him decide on going pro with poker and thereafter Layne signed up for higher stake games.

So, another 4 years down the line, Layne ventured into Las Vegas, the gambling heaven of America and promptly entered the Hall-of-Fame tournament organized at the famous Horseshoe venue, where he proceeded to bag more than 60,000 USD in prize money. That was 1997 – and Layne never looked back from his winning streak since that time!

He continued to move back and forth from beautiful Montana to the city lights of Las Vegas as he could never have enough of the country boy life and couldn’t give up the fame, fortune and glamour of live casino gambling that this card lovers paradise offered him.

Though in about a year’s time, Layne realized the practicality of moving closer to a pro poker destination like Nevada, a move that he made in 1998 to fund his poker bankroll with more attractive prizes and ambitions to take on Johnny Chan and other pro players at the tables. In fact, so impressed was the poker veteran with Layne’s gaming strategies that he said he’d bet his money on Layne – high praise indeed!

Layne won his first WSOP title in 1999 and was on a winning spree till 2003– a lucky streak that earned him his poker nickname of ‘Back-to-back Flack!’

His personal life though wasn’t such a success story for long with Layne taking to drugs and alcohol, requiring his friends to bail him out of the sticky situations these problems got him into and resulted in Layne having to sign into rehabilitation clinics regularly. Good friend and poker star, Daniel Negreanu, was one such Good Samaritan as far as Layne’s helping hands were concerned; he shelled out $60,000 from his own pocket so he could see Layne placed in rehabilitation in good time.
